This exceptional rye whiskey was blended by Michael Bosch (The Elites) and is a masterful blend of tradition and innovation.

This 7 Year Rye showcases a meticulous three-barrel blend.

First we blended two barrels of 7 year, 9 month rye (95% rye mash) distilled in Indiana aged 24+ months in Kentucky. Once these two barrels married for about 3 months, a barrel of 8.5 year rye (51% rye mash) distilled in Indiana and aged for over 36 months in Kentucky was added to the blend. This three barrel blend then married for an additional month before being bottled at cask strength.

The heart of this expression lies in its unique aging process.

The 95% rye component spent its final year in specially commissioned casks, born from a groundbreaking collaboration with William Hornaday of the renowned Kelvin Cooperage. This partnership aimed to recreate the distinct wood grain characteristics of early 20th century oak, allowing us to channel the revered profiles of treasured dusty bottles. This wood was grown in Minnesota and was cured for 48 months before being turned into barrels.

The result is a deep ruby red (almost purple!) rye that bridges generations, offering a glimpse into whiskey's golden age with a modern touch. Its complex flavor profile and remarkable richness and depth have earned high praise from industry experts, with Emerson Shotwell declaring it truly "elite" and drawing favorable comparisons to some of his favorite coveted wax topped ryes from the early 2000s. "What especially stuck out to me was the incredible texture of the whiskey. Very dense....Double-barreling done right"

Gil Schwarz, also known on Instagram as WhiskyVegas expressed his opinion that "This blend could be a double gold contender in the upcoming tasting alliance competition in New York City." Gil recommends that the drinker enjoy this blend on ice or proofed down to about 110 allowing all the aromas and flavors to explode. Bottled at cask strength, we suggest you experiment and enjoy as you like.

A. Altschuler & Co 7 Year Rye stands as a testament to the art of blending by Michael Bosch and The WoodWork Collective.
